As most of you know I was lucky enough to fly to Sydney recently for Zoe Young’s United in Motherhood You Tube Interview! There are so many aspects of the trip that were scary yet exciting for me. It was the first time I left all 3 girls at home with hubby and did something just for me. I am so grateful for the opportunity and I certainly filled my ‘me’ cup back up.
Now I am not a huge fan of flying full stop, so flying solo was a HUGE step out of my comfort zone. There were a few things I did to help my anxiety through the flight over to Sydney and back home to Perth.
Ultimate Patch – I have been using these patches for approx 2 weeks now and have noticed a difference. I ordered them specifically for my holiday as I knew it would test my anxiety to the max. For the flights I actually double patched which you are allowed to do I double checked 🙂
Sawyer Bear Blend Calm Essential Oil Roller – This roller pretty much lives in my handbag or nappy bag. I use to almost daily! I find it very grounding and smells divine! I rolled this either side of my neck and on my wrists to allow me to inhale when I needed it.
Kwells – I’ve always had motion sickness since I can remember so these are a must for my queasy tummy! Take 2, 30 minutes before I fly and then 1 before we start descending also.
Book an Isle Seat – Every time I’ve flown I try and book a isle seat so I dont feel as claustrophobic plus I can get up and go to the bathroom without disturbing anyone next to me.
Downloaded Podcasts – Before I left home I made sure I had a few of my favourite podcasts downloaded for the flights. This allowed me to straight away chuck on my headphones and listen to them to distract myself. My favs at the moment are Zoe Young, The Mummy Republic and Kylie Camps !
Eat – I made sure my tummy had food in it before I boarded the plane. I know when I get anxious my tummy plays up and this is one way I know I wont feel even more queasy!
Zoono Everything and Everywhere – Just like normal I used the Zoono Hand Sanitiser in the AM to protect my hands, but once on the plane I used one of the Zoono Surface Wipes to wipe the seat, handles and tray table before I sat down and got comfortable. I know this may seem over the top but it made me feel more calm knowing I was keeping the germs at bay as much as I could. I couldn’t imagine anything worse then catching something horrible from the flight and bringing it home to the girls.
These are just my few tips that I found helped me on my first flight alone in like 11 years. I am so sad my trip is done and dusted but excited to where it could lead me on my next adventure!
