A day in our life with ‘This Tribe of Mine’

Meet Claire, a 32 year old mum who lives in regional New South Wales along with her husband and their nine children. Claire has 8 girls and 1 boy under 1 years of age. Claire wants to share with you what her typical day is like.

6am: At 6am I get up and grab a glass of water and then do 30 minutes of exercises with my husband, we do squats, tummy crunches, weights, skipping and lots of stretches. Exercising is a great start to the day and helps you feel energized and motivated.

6.30 am. At 6.30 am, we have a quick coffee and tell all the children to get up and shower, I then organize drinks for all the kiddies and get the my youngest one’s nappies changed.

7:30am – family morning prayers time. As Catholic family we make sure we pray prayers together in the morning and evening

8am : Hubby goes to work and then we have breakfast – The kids love helping out with breakfast, they can set the table, butter toast, pour milk etc. We love to work as a team

8:45 am – We start our home-school day and we work through until 1.30pm. We absolutely love homeschooling and have done this now for almost 5 years. It bring me so much joy to watch them learn and grow.

1.30pm- Lunch and sports in the garden – We finish our school day at 1.3opm and then have lunch. After lunch the kids go in the garden and do some sporting activities.

3 pm – Movie time or kids do arts and crafts whilst I clean up the house. After the kids have a busy day of schooling they have a choice to either play in the garden, watch a movie or do arts and crafts, I always give them a choice as they always all want to do different things.

4 pm – I check my blog, Instagram and catch up on any admin work, The kids are usually still playing or watching a movie

4:30 pm – I prepare and cook dinner and then the kids and I work together as a team and fold and put the laundry away and by the way will do at least 4-5 loads of washing a day.

5:30 pm – dinner time and relax- The kids clean and set the table, we have dinner and then we get our pyjamas and sit down and relax until my husband gets home. He usually gets home between 6 and 7 depending on what shift he is doing.

7:30 pm – prayers, story time, teeth and bed- We finish our evening with talking about our busy day followed by a story and prayers, teeth and bed.

8pm – Mum & dad relax and watch a movie together. My husband and I are very busy people but we always make sure that we spend quality time together in the evenings, sometimes we watch a movie or we just sit and have a chat.
